How does SureSmile work?

With SureSmile we precisely 3D image the patient’s teeth and fit them together to predict the ideal treatment result for that individual patient. Unfortunately, most patients’ teeth don’t fit together ideally, which is why we have malocclusions. By using 3D imaging the orthodontist can predict the precise tooth fit for that individual patient and become more aware of the need for special tooth positioning or recontouring. Until now orthodontists have to go through this process by trial and error in the mouth while the patient is in treatment. The SureSmile orthodontist thus has a map to direct the treatment straight to the ultimate goal.

SureSmile precisely positions the teeth in the Ideal Treatment Result for that individual patient. This is not dictated by an orthodontic appliance based upon an average of tooth sizes or shapes as are all other orthodontic systems, including the much hyped Damon system, but by an individual customized guide for each patient. This is a computer guided robot bent precision archwire. This heat activated wire is flexible like a noodle when cooled but still retains all of the individual tooth position requirements for that individual. As a result we have lighter forces, direct movement to the treatment goal, and much less discomfort resulting in a faster treatment. The quality of the finished result is very high and this will also ensure the ultimate in stability. Studies have revealed that Suresmile is 40% faster than conventional braces and needs 1/3 less visits, and thus you will experience less discomfort.
